Thrive Service Provider Forum
The Thrive support program is a Department of Communities initiative delivered in partnership with non-government organisations. Thrive builds on the successes of the Support and Tenant Education Program (STEP), with a stronger focus on early intervention for Aboriginal housing and public housing clients.
The Thrive Service Provider Forum was an opportunity for successful providers to come together for the first time and to hear from the Minister for Housing, the Hon Peter Tinley AM, MLA about the goals of the program.
Bringing service providers, the Department of Communities and Shelter WA together created an opportunity to discuss further how the Thrive program will be implemented, especially in regional and remote areas of WA.
The discussion was very positive across the two days and important insights were made. A key message from the Department of Communities was that the evolution of Thrive over the five-year contract period will be just that, an evolution. Ongoing feedback and input from service providers and a strong and collaborative approach to the implementation of the program will be critical for its success.
The successful service providers and their contract zones are:
|Service Provider||Contract Zones|
|Outcare Inc.||North Metropolitan|
|South East Metropolitan|
|Wanslea Family Services||Wheatbelt|
|Ngaanyatjarra Council||Ngaanyatjarra Lands|
The service commencement of Thrive is on 10 October 2019.
Shelter WA is working with the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS), Community Employers Western Australia (CEWA) and the Department of Communities to hold a lessons learnt workshop regarding the Thrive tender which will inform future tender practices.
