National Homelessness Week

National Homelessness Week is held every year during the first week of August.

This year it falls between 5-11 August 2019.

The Western Australian theme for the week is ‘Home, Safe Home’. The aim of the week is to raise awareness of homelessness the issues that people face, and the action needed to end homelessness.

Homelessness Week is coordinated by Shelter WA in consultation with the Homelessness Week Reference Group and the newly formed Lived Experience Working Group.

Homelessness Week in WA continues to be supported by Lotterywest and Department for Communities who have provided funding to Shelter WA to host the week of events.

We are looking forward to hosting another insightful program of events and offering our devolved grants program which enables community organisations to host their own events during the week.

The devolved grants program will open for applications shortly so please keep an eye out in our coming newsletters if your organisation would like to be involved in Homelessness Week 2019.
