The State Government is developing a plan to address gender inequality in Western Australia.
While significant advances have been made to remove barriers to women’s full economic and social participation, there is still a long way to go to bring about lasting solutions.
This plan will provide a framework for coordinated action by government, businesses, organisations and individuals with practical steps to advance gender equality.
The plan will focus on four priority areas:
- health and wellbeing
- safety and justice
- economic independence
The plan will be launched in 2020 and will set the agenda for achieving gender equality over the next 10 years.
How to have your say
• Complete a short online survey by June 2019 (to request a copy of the survey in an alternative format or language, please contact email@example.com)
• Complete the ‘electronic postcard’ on the Communities website and submit your response.
Organisations and groups:
Consider holding a consultation session with your members or community. A toolkit is available to guide you and limited grant funding may be available for consultations in regional locations which are aimed at engaging with hard to reach groups. Please contact Communities at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Resources are available for your organisation, to support the development of the Women’s Plan. These include a poster to encourage the community to get involved in the consultation process and a postcard for people to have their say.
You can find more information on the Department of Communities (Communities) website.
