National Shelter welcomes ALP National Housing commitment

National Shelter welcomes the commitment to a National Housing Strategy by ALP Leader The Hon. Bill Shorten M.P.

Spokesperson for National Shelter, Mr. Adrian Pisarski said "Mr Shorten has identified the massive shortfall in affordable housing leading to over 1 million renters suffering housing stress."

"In particular we welcome a commitment to build social housing and affordable housing and partnering with community providers, states, local government and the private sector."

”Every sector of our community and economy has a role to play in solving our housing crisis.”

”We also welcome the re-commitment to reforming the tax treatment of housing in Australia to find the revenue required to rebuild our housing system.”

National Shelter looks forward to further comments in coming weeks to provide more detail on the ALP plan.
